A house with a story
You are celebrating in the home of Joseph Béghin (1871–1938). Built in 1895–96, close to the family sugar factory in Thumeries, the house has watched over the village ever since.
With his brother Henri, Joseph Béghin ran the company they founded in 1898, which later became Béghin-Say, once Europe’s leading sugar producer. From 1919 until his death he was also the mayor of Thumeries, and the street the château stands on still bears his name.
Since 2009, the doors have been open again for weddings and celebrations. The walls remember. There is room left for yours.
